8 million tons of waste ends up in our seas every single year.
640 thousand tons of fishing nets are abandoned at the bottom of the ocean. (data sourced from FAO and UNEP)

Such alarming data tells us that, unless the situation changes, by 2050 our seas may contain more rubbish than fish.
We need to change our approach radically, cohabiting with nature in the best possible way, and considering the importance of a limited resources such as water. We need to be more deeply aware of this situation and change our mentality completely.

As a result EDGE use a specialfabric called ECONYL®, a new polyamide yarn boasting the same features as virgin nylon in terms of performance and quality, but with the plus of not having been produced with the use of non renewable fossil raw materials. In fact, ECONYL® is a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets, carpet fluff (the top part of Nylon carpets which have got to the end of their useful life), tulle etc.: all such materials, once they have reached the end of their useful life, instead of being disposed of in the landfill, are recovered and regenerated by means of a complex chemical-physical process.
